Picture Inkwell

The creation of this tutorial is my own however if this is similar to any other tutorial it is a coincidence. Here we go.

Tools Needed:

PSP 7- Download free trial

The zip file containing the selections here

An image you want to use

Open the image in PSP

Download the selections into your selection folder

Step 1:

  Open the image you want to use and select a color from the image. Then open a new image 250 x 304 transparent, 16 million colors. Add a new layer go to Layers> New Raster Layer named frame1. Go to Selections-> Load from Disk degpicinkfr1.sel. Flood fill with a color of your choice. I used #B1839D. Go to Effects -> 3D Effects-> Outer Bevel-> Metallic. Use the default settings.

 

Step 2:

 Add a new layer go to Layers> New Raster Layer named img. Go to Selections-> Load from Disk degpicinkimg.sel Open the image you want to use. Edit-> Copy. Make the inkwell your active image. Edit -> Paste into Selection. Selections-> Float. Go to Effects -> 3D Effects-> Cutout. Use the following settings. Selections-> Select None

 

Step 3:

Add a new layer go to Layers> New Raster Layer named inner top. Go to Selections-> Load from Disk degpicinktop1.sel. Flood fill with the same color you used before. Lower the opacity on the layer to 72. Selections-> Selections None.

 

Step 4:

Add a new layer go to Layers> New Raster Layer named frame. Go to Selections-> Load from Disk degpicinktop. sel. Flood fill with the same color you used before for the frame1 layer.  Go to Effects -> 3D Effects-> Outer Bevel-> Metallic. Selections-> Select None. Layers merge visible and you are done. Enjoy.
